Platform improvements
- Alarms: The Genus won’t show the message “Failed to send alarm” when raising the alarm and no phones are connected even though there’s a community connected. This message was false since the alarm would still raise to the community.
- Homies: The Homies integration has been removed from the Genus platform since Homies stopped as of Jun 27, 2024.
- Network usage monitoring: Network usage of the Genus is now stored and sent to the Genus server. This way we can get insight into the amount of MB’s the Genus uses to determine eSIM bundle sizes and recommend SIM bundle sizes for 4G customers.
- Senso8: Prototype has been created for the Iris IOT community.
- Video: Our previous video call provider is now completely removed from the Genus platform. This also means that Genus frames with a version lower than 2.0.0 won’t be able to make video calls anymore and should be updated. This version was released on Jul 23, 2023 so the impact will be minimal.
- Video: Fixed issue where a call could be started twice making it impossible to end it.
- Video: It’s now possible to skip the video preview and directly join a video call.
- Video: When starting a call without a Genus camera, the camera of the caller is now also disabled.
- Video: Incoming video call popup on the Genus will now automatically stop after 10 minutes instead of 30 seconds to give clients the time to answer a call.
- Video: Video shown on the Genus is now mirrored to match reality.
- Video: When a caller’s name is already known (when a call is created through API), the “What’s your name?” title is no longer displayed.
- Phone apps: Status symbols (home, frame, heart) now correspond to active alerts and don’t have their own algorithm anymore.
- Android app: When the Genus receives a photo, the checkmarks are green again.
- Android app: Fixed issue where sometimes the bottom menu was not displayed.
- Temperature analysis: The temperature analysis now uses the person detection algorithm instead of only relying on the PIR sensor.
- Temperature analysis: Fixed an issue where temperature alerts would be sent multiple times when the Genus server reboots.
- Push: Push messages to the Genus (e.g. medicine reminders) will now only live for 2 days. This means that if your Genus is offline for 30 days and you turn it on, it’ll only receive the messages of the past 2 days (except for photos / connection requests). This is to avoid having to handle 30 days of medicine reminders.
- Push: Push messages are now logged with the time it took to reach the Genus to monitor push messages and improve speed in the future.
- Mantelzorger App: Fixed some issues with the Mantelzorger App integration to prepare for a public release.
- Demo videos: Demo videos are now removed from the Genus app.
- Text-to-speech: A text-to-speech prototype has been created for the Genus to speak out incoming messages such as medicine reminders.
- Updater app: Improved stability of communication between the Genus frame app and Genus updater app.
- Updater app: Fixed an issue where the updating screen of the Updater app was in a different language as the Frame app.
- Battery protection: GC200 automatically shuts down when battery is below 20%, for the GC300 this has been reduced to 5%.
- Sound settings: Fixed an issue where the Genus app could crash when changing the volume and do-not-disturb was enabled.
- Daystart: The daystart screen “good morning!” now only activates after 7:30 AM to prevent clients from having a bright up Genus in the middle of the night when the Genus is located in their bedroom.
- Daystart: The daystart message will now change to “good afternoon” and “good evening” when displayed in the afternoon / evening.
- License replacement: Fixed switching of a license on a Genus not being stored correctly resulting in a rollback to the old license overnight.
- Minew: Added early prototype for the Minew B5 button.
- Portals: Logos have been updated to match the new Genus house style.
- Connection check: The Genus will no longer show “No internet connection available” when the Genus has an internet connection but can’t reach the Genus servers. It’ll say “Genus services unavailable” instead.
