The platform now supports text-to-speech for messages that are sent to the Genus. In the community portal you’ll see a check for “Speech message on Genus”. Enabling this will speak the message on the Genus automatically.

On the Genus the user can tap the speaker icon to repeat the message if he/she missed the message.

The text to speech functionality automatically recognises the language of the given text and can pronounce the text in the following languages: Bulgarian, Classic Arabic, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Filipino, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Hungarian & Vietnamese., Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Tamil, Turkish, Ukrainian,Chinese

GC320 camera

The camera of the GC320 is now correctly mirrored in the video web-client so text in the video (e.g. a medicine box) is correctly readable.

Theming

The web-call is now themed to the Genus brand guidelines.

(Community Portal) Improved call timer

The call timer will now only start when the Genus has joined the call. Previously the timer would start immediately falsely indicating that the call already started.

(Community Portal) Switch between speakers / microphones / cameras

It’s now easier to switch between speakers, microphones and cameras. A button will appear when more than one device is detected to easily switch.

(API) It’s now possible to call by serial number

External parties that have an integration with the Genus Platform to start video calls by API can now start a video call by serial number instead of the communityFrameLinkId. This should make administration and setup on the 3rd party side easier. A link to their community is still needed for security purposes. This link will automatically be created by the Deployer App.

(API) Web-call will now show a message when trying to call a Genus that’s offline.

Previously when calling a Genus that’s offline, the call would ring endlessly. Now an error message will be shown on our web-call saying the Genus is offline.

Logging

Extended logging has been added to calling from the Genus and web-client to provide better support / locate issues more easily

(API) Access logs

When a 3rd party requests a video call with a Genus, a log entry will be made with the full request including information about the requester like the IP-address.

The GC320 has been released with some new features. These are not available on the GC200 series.

Serial numbers

Every GC320 has a unique serial number that’s in the software and displayed with a sticker on the Genus itself and box. This serial number is sent to the Genus server when the Genus connects to the internet for the first time. By doing this we can now match the physical hardware with the installed Genus software allowing us to provide better support, identify hardware iterations and allowing external API’s using our hardware ID.

4G

The GC320 has an eSIM included which can be turned on or off in “Menu > Settings > SIM settings”. You can also enter your own SIM-card in the SIM-tray on top of the Genus. Make sure you put the SIM-card in the top slot and not the bottom one. The Genus will ask for a pin code if needed and connect to 4G. You might need to switch to SIM manually on the SIM settings page by tapping “SIM” below “Switch active SIM”.

To enable 4G tap the Enable 4G button on the SIM settings page.

Ethernet port

Connecting an ethernet cable to the back of the Genus will now display an active network on the Genus.

System test

The Genus now automatically connects to networks ‘Genus Setup’ and ‘Genus Factory’. When it connects to these networks it’ll show a testing tool where you can test if all functionality (sensors, camera, volume buttons etc.) works correctly without setting up the Genus. A report of the test will be sent to the Genus servers for future reference.

When the Genus connects to one of these networks it also automatically updates the Frame & Updater app.

TTS alarm reactions

When someone responds to an EV04 alarm, the EV04 button will now speak out the reaction. (e.g. “Thomas is on his way”). The button will also say when the alarm has been received by the server and when the alarm has been canceled from the frame.

Pairing EV04 when having no 4G signal

The pairing system has been improved by also leveraging the SMS fallback to pair the EV04 button to a Genus frame. This works as long as the EV04 is registered at the Genus server, so it needs to have had a 4G connection at some point after booting up for the first time.

Improved communication between the EV04 and Genus server

All communication between the EV04 and the Genus server is now stored persistently and should be a lot more stable. When there are problems, we now have a history of actions that are sent (e.g. change volume) along with if the button has confirmed the action or not.

EV04 buttons are now shown in the community portal

The EV04 buttons connected to a Genus are now shown on the user detail page in the community portal. Clicking on a button will request the latest known location.

Configure EV04 settings from the frame

You can now configure the EV04 settings directly from the Genus.

You can enable fall detection along with configuring the sensitivity it should use for detecting falls.

You can change the volume of the button, this slider is combined for setting the TTS volume, ringtone volume & call volume.

When you’ve made changes, a save button will appear on the bottom left corner. After saving the settings, a change request will be sent to the server. When the EV04 connects to the server the settings will be synced with the button. This means settings won’t be directly applied to the button. When having a 4G signal, it can take up to 30 minutes to synchronise.
